Asteroid Name: Kaali
Named After: The Hindu Goddess of Time and Empowerment
Asteroid #: 4227 (type it in the additional asteroid section in Astro.com).
If Pluto is the masculine, physical destruction and transformation, Kaali is the female, emotional/mental destruction, manipulation, and mind control.
Pluto is obvious control, Kaali is psychological influence.
Kaali is one bad bitch.
A woman that I’ve met with, has an issue. She has laid many claims that all the men in her life have physically abused her. She has even taken up domestic violence as a cause that she speaks on publicly, and writes about often. This woman has spoken on behalf of others who have no voice. She has done a lot for the women who have been abused, and in this way, she should be praised for work.
The issue with this woman, is that it is unknown (even by herself) if she has actually been abused in the way she says. It is, however, known by her family and friends, that she has mentally manipulated, as well as physically abused, not only her lovers, but her family and children. She has learned to successfully control others to do her bidding, by acting as a victim in all situations, even though she is very much an abuser. When her lovers start understanding that she is using them, they leave her, and so she claims herself a victim of their masculine rage, and moves on to someone else, in another town, to help her in “crisis”.
This woman has an exact conjunction between Mercury, Pluto, and Kaali. So is it any wonder that her mental facilities are consistently being transformed and manipulated, causing the need to control the situations around her? She’s a storm, and instead of calming the storm, she makes the storm the norm, by creating it in others. You could probably go a step further and say that she feels mentally powerless, probably due to some unknown abuse or demon from her past. She now gains power through the destruction of others, both mentally (Kaali) and physically (Pluto).
Kaali is female empowerment. And yes, men can also feel it in their own chart. It’s the point in life, where you decide that you have “had enough!” And you pick yourself up by your bootstraps, and kick some mental ass, through your own inner power. We all have Kaali somewhere, those who use it more often, or find themselves in situations that call for it, have it conjunct one of their planets or angles within 1 or 2 degrees.
The thing about Kaali, as with all placements, is that you don’t have to use it in a bad way. Another woman I know, has it conjunct her Ascendant. She’s the type of person who will never ask for help, and never has, in her life. She has gone from feeling so powerless, to being able to overcome so much, through her own inner strength. Many times. This is a strength that is literally written on her face (your Ascendant is your physical nature, and anything conjunct it will alter your features accordingly).
According to Wikipedia, Kaali (also: Kali/Kalika) means “the black one” or “beyond time”. She is the Hindu goddess of time and empowerment–“time” meaning all things created and destroyed, preserved and changed. The goddess was a destroyer of evil forces, creating new life in everyone. She was also said to have worn the slain demon heads, on a belt around her waist, which is pretty badass.
How exciting is that? Kaali is a demon slayer! She can and will help you survive by killing the monsters that serve as your own inner issues! And you can see, with my two examples above, that these women are survivors. One lies about others to never die, and the other allows herself to be reborn, but they both survive through Kaali.
Kaali can also be mind control, because of its ability to slay. If things are chaotic, how do we fix them? We control them. And since Kaali focuses on mental reform, it can just as easily become mental control. Is there a person that you want to do everything for (even though they might drain you), and can’t seem to leave (no matter how much they upset you)? They could have Kaali conjunct a planet of yours, or they could just be this way naturally, with Kaali conjunct their own Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus or Angle (Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, Nadir).
Both Queen Elizabeth and Prince William have Kaali conjunct their Sun, (their charts are below). Is it any coincidence that they will also be in power over millions of people, and everyone is just okay with it? And what of Prince Charles’s Kaali? It’s sadly just floating around not doing much. It will be interesting to see if the crown is passed over Charles, and given straight to his son. As an American, I don’t know a whole lot about the royals, I only know that Charles is next in line, William is 3rd, and George is 4th. Prince George, by the way, has Kaali conjunct his Ascendant. Anyone can rule, but if you want people to like that you’re doing it, it doesn’t hurt to have the ability to control others perception of you, have insane influence, and survive all attacks. Kaali makes that happen.
In your own chart:
Look to the planet or angle that Kaali is conjunct in your chart. If it is the Sun, Kaali will make people mesmerized by your presence. Your moon? You will be able to emotionally manipulate or transform, in the way the woman above, has used Mercury’s communication to manipulate. Venus is about love and confidence, Mars is aggression as well as passion; if Kaali is conjunct, you would be very powerful in love or anger. Your Midheaven is your public image and career, if Kaali is conjunct, I’d say you are a very powerful person in business, or fame.
It is important to know if you have a strong Kaali, to see where you might need to heal your past demons. There was once a time you needed to rise above the pain, but as Inigo Montoya says in the Princess Bride,
“I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.”
Be careful to not to stay there, allow yourself to pinpoint the demons, and then use Kaali to empower others. You are strong, so do not allow yourself to believe the lie that you are weak. You are a true survivor. Other’s should be allowed to see that in you.
If Kaali is not conjunct a planet or angle, you are not a Kaali-type person. I cannot say to look to the house or sign with an asteroid, because of how many asteroids there are. With any asteroid, find the ones that are in a close conjunct to your personal planets, and you will see that they add elements to your personality that make so much more sense.
For instance, I have Urania, the muse of astrology, conjunct my Jupiter exact. I have Astraea, conjunct my Ascendant exact. I have Apollo, Aphrodite, Talent, and Narcissus conjunct my Sun all within 2 degrees. Those are the asteroids that make me, for better or for worse (which I will talk about in this series). Kaali, in my chart, is floating around Gemini in the 3rd house, at 5 degrees, doing whatever it wants. That is, until someone comes over with a personal planet or angle, at 5 degrees Gemini, and I’m all like, “Oh damn, I got some power and influence over you. What should I do with it?”
